Job Summary

The Manager I, T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® NC Higher Education Liaison will work with North Carolina’s institutions of higher learning and the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® NC Scholarship Program to promote and coordinate activities related to new workforce development strategies. These new strategies are aimed at addressing the workforce crisis by recruiting 250 new early childhood professionals to the field and include pathways such as apprenticeships, residency support, CDA (Child Development Associate) credentialing, and credit for prior learning. The job requires building and cultivating relationships with community colleges and 4-year colleges and universities across North Carolina and serving as liaison between these institutions of higher learning and the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® NC Scholarship Program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with North Carolina’s institutions of higher learning early childhood/child development departments to promote new workforce development strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Scholarship Program to promote scholarship models that support new workforce development strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with scholarship program staff to serve as liaison between higher education institutions and the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Scholarship Program.
  • Promote new strategies through the development of an outreach and recruitment plan for each strategy.
  • Develop program materials to facilitate outreach and recruitment activities for new strategies.
  • Become highly knowledgeable of higher education system in North Carolina to facilitate the work.
  • Collect data on the effectiveness of each strategy, as appropriate.
  • Develop and write articles and summary reports to demonstrate effectiveness of strategies, as appropriate.
  • Have a strong foundational knowledge of T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® to facilitate efforts to improve the early care and education workforce through new strategies.
  • Treat all information on CCSA clients, employees, or Board Members in a confidential manner.

Special Skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills with internal and external clients.
  • Computer experience; knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn File Maker Pro, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and web-based presentation software.
  • Attention to detail with ability to handle large volume of administrative work.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize work and travel schedule to balance administrative duties and outreach/recruitment activities.
  • Knowledge of ECE higher education issues such as articulation and strategies to increase student success.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse client population.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field plus or including at least 18 birth to five focused semester hours;
  • At least three years of experience in working in programs that serve young children, their families or the early care and education workforce or experience working in institutions of higher learning such as academic or career advisement or instruction;
  • Experience collecting and analyzing basic program and evaluation data;
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

Special Working Requirements

  • An automobile at his/her disposal; a valid, non-suspended NC driver’s license and a current automobile liability policy with continuous coverage; Reasonable accommodations may be made at agency’s discretion.
  • Must be able to manipulate and operate office supplies and equipment occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential responsibilities.
  • Must have internet access at in home residence to support remote work arrangements as necessary and determined by the agency and supervisor.
  • No substantiation or criminal conviction of child abuse or neglect.
  • May require need for flexible schedules, including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • May work in shared space.
