Job Summary

Assist the research team with research-related tasks. Specific duties depend on current research projects underway, but may include activities such as:  data collection, update factsheets/spreadsheets with current information and data, collect/check and enter original data as needed, maintaining supplies and ordering as needed and/or directed, ensuring printing and mailings are completed, assisting with motivating and guiding temporary employees as directed, and other duties related to overall division functions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Research

  • Research and provide data or information pertinent to the needs of the project as directed
  • Assist with data collection (including phone, mail and email), verification, entry and checking as directed
  • Respond to requests for data as needed
  • Gather data through multiple means as pertinent to specific grants and as directed
  • Update data entry spreadsheets and other data collection tools as directed
  • Perform data entry/checking and help guide temporary employees in this activity
  • Gather data and information pertinent to specific reports and studies and enter into required systems
  • Help motivate and guide the work of temporary employees as directed

Admin

  • Maintain and order supplies and materials needed for research projects as directed
  • Complete purchase requisitions, check requests and other paperwork as required by each project
  • Investigate appropriate sources and order supplies, printing, etc. as directed

Other

  • Draft supporting documentation required for reports to funding sources
  • Assist with editing and proofing materials and reports as directed
  • Coordinate and schedule department meetings as directed
  • Participate in agency committees/meetings as directed
  • Help develop strategies to implement and achieve departmental goals and outcomes
  • Treat information on CCSA clients, employees and Board members in a confidential manner
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Special Skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills with internal and external clients
  • Ability to gather information from individuals over the phone
  • Proficiency in data entry and data management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software programs, specifically Word and Excel, and Google suite. Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn FileMaker Pro.
  • Strong attention to detail, specifically numbers, with ability to accurately handle large volume of work
  • Ability to work independently, and receive/offer constructive feedback.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Research, Public Policy, Social Work, Education, or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year experience related to the job duties and responsibilities preferably directly related to research and/or program evaluation
  • Previous experience compiling multiple sources of written information and data for research purposes or assignments

Special Working Requirements

  • An automobile at their disposal; a valid, non-suspended NC driver’s license and a current automobile liability policy with continuous coverage.  Reasonable accommodations may be made at agency’s discretion
  • Must be able to manipulate and operate office supplies and equipment.  Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential responsibilities

  • May require need for flexible schedules, including occasional evening and weekend work
  • May require some travel including local, statewide and national
  • May work in shared space
