Healthy Social Behaviors Initiative

The Healthy Social Behaviors (HSB) Project was designed to assist teachers in addressing challenging behaviors and in creating a proactive environment to ensure that children have developed the social-emotional competencies needed prior to entering school in order to succeed.

Overview

Promoting Healthy Social Behaviors in Child Care Settings

One of the biggest challenges that early childhood educators and administrators face is children’s behavior.  We know that some of these behaviors are developmentally appropriate, however, some behaviors can be difficult for a teacher to manage.

CCSA’s Healthy Social Behaviors Project Specialists support teachers by:

  • Providing technical assistance, coaching and professional development to prevent and address these challenging behaviors, as well as promote children’s social competence.
  • Works with the teacher to implement effective classroom management strategies and Pyramid Model strategies to teach children socially appropriate behaviors.
